Contact NorthSky

Write to us about an operational problem, a pending decision or a deadline you are working towards. Your message is read by Roe Nerem, who does the advisory work, so the first reply is a useful one rather than an acknowledgement.

We normally reply within a few working days.

Reach us directly

If you would rather not use the form, either of these reaches the same person.

  • Emailroe.nerem@northsky.no

Best for anything with detail, dates or documents attached.

  • Telephone+47 971 74448

Norwegian office hours. If it goes unanswered, we are probably in an operations room or a meeting, so leave a message or send an email.

  • Working languagesNorwegian and English

Write in whichever you prefer. Reports and training material can be delivered in either.

  • Where we workNorway, Sweden and Denmark

Norwegian and EASA regulation is the working context. Enquiries from outside the Nordic region are welcome, but say early which authority you answer to.

Roe Nerem, Air traffic controller and aviation risk consultant. Enquiries are read and answered by the person who will do the work, not by an inbox.

What to put in a first message

None of this is required, and a one-line message is fine. But the more of it you can answer, the more specific the first reply can be.

What do you operate, and where?

An aerodrome, a UAS operation, an air traffic service, a heliport, or a project that touches one of them.

What decision is waiting on this?

An application, an internal approval, a board paper, an audit finding, a tender submission, or a change you are planning.

Is there a date you are working towards?

A hearing, an audit, a season opening, a submission deadline. It changes what is realistic to propose.

Is an authority already involved?

Whether Luftfartstilsynet or another authority has asked you something, and what they asked, is usually the single most useful sentence in a first message.

What have you already got?

An existing safety assessment, a manual, a SORA, a set of procedures. Building on what exists is normally faster and cheaper than starting again.

What happens after you send it

  1. A written reply

You get a reply that says what we think the actual question is, whether NorthSky is the right party to answer it, and what we would need to look at. If it is not something we should take on, we will say so and, where we can, point you somewhere better.

  2. A short call

Usually thirty minutes, at no cost, to test whether the written summary matches what you are actually dealing with. Most enquiries change shape at this point.

  3. A written scope

If it makes sense to continue, you get a short document setting out the work, what you receive at the end, who needs to be available on your side, a timescale, and a fee. Assignments are quoted individually, because a two day review and a full safety case are not the same job.

Before you send operational detail

Please do not put occurrence reports, aircraft registrations, named individuals or confidential documents into a first message or into the form. Describe the situation in general terms and we will agree a proper route for the detail, including a non-disclosure agreement if your organisation needs one before anything is shared.

How we handle what you send is set out in the privacy notice.

Send a message

Everything except your name, email address and message is optional.

If you would rather start on your own

Three ways to get something useful before you talk to anyone.

Screening tools

Free structured self-assessments for airfield risk, SORA readiness, movement numbers and Just Culture. Each one produces a summary you can send us, or keep for yourself.

Advisory services

What NorthSky actually does, by area: air traffic control, risk management and compliance, UAS and counter-drone operations, and regulatory work.

Books

Two practical books, one on Just Culture for UAS operators and one on getting value out of third party audits. Both are written for people who have to make this work in an operation, not for a shelf.

Common questions

How quickly will I hear back?

We normally reply within a few working days. If your message names a deadline, say what it is and we will tell you straight away whether it is achievable.

Do you take on small assignments?

Yes. A large part of the work is short: reading a draft safety assessment, sanity checking a SORA before submission, sitting in on one meeting, or reviewing an audit finding. Ask, even if the job feels too small to be worth a consultant.

Can you sign a non-disclosure agreement?

If your organisation needs one in place before operational detail is shared, say so in your first message and we will deal with that before anything else.

Do you work in Norwegian?

Yes. Meetings, reports, procedures and training material can all be delivered in Norwegian or in English. The screening tools on this site are in English, which Norwegian aviation professionals generally read without difficulty.

Do you work outside Norway?

NorthSky works across Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Norwegian and EASA regulation is the home ground, so an enquiry from further afield should say early which authority you answer to.

What does an assignment cost?

Assignments are quoted individually, in writing, before any work starts. You will not get an invoice for something that was not in the agreed scope.

Scope of NorthSky’s work

NorthSky provides operational risk decision support and advisory guidance. Outputs do not constitute regulatory certification, aerodrome licensing, compliance verification, or formal authority determinations.
